Safety & Compliance
Cortexa was built for regulated industrial environments where voice communication is the primary safety control medium. Every safety-relevant feature is designed around the principle that no alert fires unless it can cite its evidence.
Cortexa Safe — safety intelligence module
Cortexa Safe monitors radio traffic for safety-critical events and turns them into structured, auditable records. It operates continuously, with no reliance on workers self-reporting or supervisors manually reviewing transcripts.
Safety scenarios Cortexa detects
- Permit-to-work breaches: Verbal confirmation of hot work, confined space entry, lockout-tagout, and hazardous substance work is verified against permit conditions in real time.
- Confined space incidents: Language indicating distress, equipment failure, or unplanned egress inside confined spaces is flagged immediately.
- Gas, fire, and hazard alarm responses: When an alarm activates, Cortexa tracks verbal acknowledgements, escalation calls, and evacuation confirmations across all channels.
- Near-miss detection: Descriptions of close-call events that would typically go unreported are identified from natural radio speech.
- Incident reconstruction: Every incident can be reconstructed end-to-end — who said what, on which channel, at which exact time — with playable audio evidence.
Compliance standards alignment
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety)
- ISO 27001 (Information Security)
- GDPR by-design (data processed on-premise, no external egress)
- NIST CSF (Cybersecurity Framework)
- OSHA PSM (Process Safety Management)
- HSE COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards)
- HSE CDM Regulations (Construction)
Evidence integrity
Every Cortexa alert is linked to the exact transmission that triggered it: speaker callsign, channel, timestamp, audio clip, and transcript excerpt. If the system cannot cite its evidence, the alert does not fire. This evidence package is exportable for regulatory reporting, legal proceedings, and internal review.
Supervisor review and audit trail
Supervisors review detections through the Cortexa dashboard. Every review action — confirm, dismiss, escalate, re-route — is logged with the reviewer's identity and timestamp, creating a complete audit trail that can be submitted to regulators or used in incident investigations.
